Library under the open sky

Summer is a time of holidays and vacation. Children, teenagers, youth and adults spend on air, outdoors more time. During the summer period the Central city model library for children and young people realizes special summer programs which allow to diversify leisure of children and teenagers, to reveal and develop their abilities, to form and maintain reader’s activity.

One of such projects is the Library under the open sky "Rest in the world of literature". The project assumes the organization of the summer reading room under the open sky in a recreation area of citizens, in the Central city park. The main objectives of the project as much as possible to bring closer library to the reader, to create a favorable opportunity for informative family rest and reading inhabitants and city visitors, to stimulate public interest in the book and reading. The project started on June 20, 2018. The children and teenagers visiting school camp of secondary schools of Kokshetau, and also active readers from ten branches of the Central city information and library system have been invited to his opening. Writers and poets of Kokshetau — people with whom the birth of new stories, poems, fairy tales for children is directly connected came to congratulate children on opening of the summer reading room: SerikZhetpiskaliyev, ErlanTashev, KayyrbayToregozha, TomirisSamatova. Visitors of library under the open sky with pleasure communicated with authors of books, took autographs. After the ceremonial opening of the project and startng into the sky of multi-colored baloons with an appeal "The book live!" children were engaged in zones where each child could do anything he or she liked more.

On a grass in a shadow of trees there was the Mini-reading room and a charts of book novelties for kids "The best children’s books" where children could look through bright books sitting on a lawn in multi-colored chairs, or, having hidden from all in a tent. Right there nearby "A bookcrossing zone", in the form of a lodge on a tree where everyone could take home the pleasant book, and to leave his or her book in exchange, brought from the house.

In "A zone of mobile library", using applications of modern smartphones, it was possible to obtain information on the books by popular poets and writers of Kazakhstan presented there.

In a zone of origami "Not for boredom" children under the leadership of the teacher Olga Iskakova made of paper and painted finger-type dolls and scenery to the fairy tale "Teremok". Children with great pleasure right there played a mini-performance.

Animators from the Youth center "Zhas Otan" in suits of fairy tale characters invited children in the competitive zone "Children, guess our riddles" where children could dance together with heroes of fairy tales, answer questions of a fantastic quiz, participate in outdoor games and competitions.

Zone of participants of the action for support of reading "I am for reading!" drew attention of children with an opportunity to write the wishes to library and thoughts about books and reading on bright green paper stickers and to paste them to branches of the tree represented at the stand.

On the summer platform there were presented for reading books and brochures, magazines and newspapers, literature of the most different genres and the directions: stories, novels, collections of verses, art and documentary books, historical and adventure works, classical literature, detectives, love affairs, cheerful and serious book .

How to fill up free time of youth, children and parents? How to make so that it was interesting to them with the book in the summer? The project "Rest in the world of literature" is also directed to the solution of these questions, any passerby without special rules can become our reader. Librarians will try have filled leisure of citizens with interesting and useful contents. We hope that the summer selection of literature and good weather will present excellent mood to all who love the book! On our platform it is possible to take refuge in a shadow and with pleasure to read the favourite magazine in the fresh air, to look at interesting children’s books with the child, to enjoy the nature.
