« 50+WEB »

Recently, In the Electronic library "the 50+WEB" project has begun to work where everyone can study computer literacy. The training is free. The Kokshetau pensioners travel to a world wide web. These special computer courses are for those who are over 50. The goal of the computer courses was to train pensioners in basic computer use.

Pensioners will learn elements of IT technologies for four weeks. During this time, they will master typing and viewing of photos, they will be helped to create a personal mailbox. All for the sake of one to simplify to their life and to communicate with the family. According to the Digital Kazakhstan program, till 2020 it is planned to increase digital literacy of the population of the country to 80 percent, having raised the number of the Internet users and digital services.

Open classrooms are not just to help pensioners to study the work with the computer, they also open for them new opportunities: as viewing of news on the Internet and making an appointment with the doctor through electronic registry. All that is easy for modern youth but causes difficulties in people of the senior generation. Without teachers it would take pensioners several months and maybe years to learn how to work with the computer.

Especially pleases that thanks to open classrooms our pensioners began to communicate more: they actively are registered on social networks, call up to relatives on Skype. They can receive the sea of information from the Internet: to read books, to keep recipes and schemes of knitting, to watch movies and informative programmes. Open classrooms are very important for elderly people therefore the number of interested people is raising every day.

Results achieved:

In the age of digital technology, computer literacy becomes not an integral part for a person, which often determines his social activity and involvement in the modern rhythm of life.
